From the pressure Mike McDaniel and Tua Tagovailoa are facing in Miami to the Kansas City Chiefs’ recent injury scare with Patrick Mahomes – Sky Sports NFL host Neal Reynolds on this The final decision was made in Week 15 of the season…
Week 15 in the NFL has multiple playoff-shaping games, and while there aren’t any clear-cut changes in terms of the leading teams, I do feel like there’s been a slight shift in power.
That’s where we’ll start this week…
Allen leads ‘miles’ in MVP race
The Buffalo Bills looked very good in their win over the Detroit Lions, especially quarterback Josh Allen. He reminds me of standing on the sidelines of various youth sports over the years and seeing the other team and that kid who seemed to be going through growth faster than everyone else.
He’s bigger, stronger, faster. This shouldn’t happen at the NFL level, but it does, and it happened in the form of Josh Allen, who looked absolutely dominant in the 48-42 victory. He threw for 424 yards and six touchdowns against the Los Angeles Rams last week, and threw for 362 yards and two touchdowns against the Lions while also rushing for two more scores. .
There was nothing he couldn’t do right now. He looks unstoppable and to me, I’ve been a long time supporter of Lamar Jackson being MVP this year and I think Allen is leading this game by a mile right now.
Lions’ injury concerns
The Lions had another strong performance on offense, with Jared Goff passing for 494 yards, five touchdowns and no interceptions. But I’m starting to worry that this Cinderella season might fall apart.
The Lions had 21 injured players heading into the game against Buffalo, and they now lose defensive tackle Alim McNeill and running back David Montgomery.
The injuries keep piling up, which is really frustrating because it’s going to be a magical season. They now have to dig deep and rely on their offensive stars to get across the finish line.
Carson Wentz’s time in Kansas City?
The Kansas City Chiefs beat the Cleveland Browns 21-7 in routine fashion to move to 13-1 and remain the AFC’s leading team, but their lack of protection for Patrick Mahomes reared its ugly head once again.
Mahomes found himself on the sidelines with an ankle injury and looked bad as he tried to get a first down on fourth down. His ankle was severely sprained, meaning he was racing against time to adapt to the complex schedule ahead. They face the Houston Texans on Saturday and the Pittsburgh Steelers four days later on Christmas Day.
I think we could be ready for a holiday version of Carson Wentz.
Baker’s Buccaneers have NFL on alert
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers may need more of our attention. They scored 30 points and defeated the Los Angeles Chargers 40-17 on the road.
It was their fourth straight win and they are in the lead in the NFC South title race, which would be the fourth straight year if they win the division.
It starts with their offense. Baker Mayfield threw for four touchdowns, Mike Evans had more than 150 yards receiving and two touchdowns, and they ran 39 times for 223 yards. They hadn’t really been tested in their previous three wins against the New York Giants, Carolina Panthers and Las Vegas Raiders, but against the NFL’s No. 1 scoring defense, the Buccaneers Passed the test with flying colors.
When they get to the playoffs, they’re going to be a playoff team and a tough team.
Eagles find new way to win
Whether it’s because of AJ Brown’s comments or not, the Philadelphia Eagles changed their approach a little in Week 15. They ran the ball 473 times that weekend, the most in the NFL, while attempting just 328 passes, the fewest in the league. In the league.
Saquon Barkley might have been hurt a little bit so he only had 65 yards rushing on Sunday, and they got the win the other way with AJ Brown and DeVonta Smith both finishing with 100 yards of the ball and each caught a touchdown pass.
The Eagles are currently 12-2 and appear to be a complete team. They will try to push the Lions for the NFC’s top seed.
Player of the Week – Josh Allen, Quarterback, Buffalo Bills
My Player of the Week, no surprise, is of course the Bills’ Josh Allen. The team has now scored at least 30 points in eight straight games, the longest streak in a single season in NFL history.
Allen has scored 14 offensive touchdowns in Buffalo’s past three games, including throwing, running and receiving touchdowns. He did it all and excelled on Sunday.
Game of the Week – Any Josh Allen game
You can have any number of Josh Allen games. On one of Buffalo’s first drives early in the first quarter, he rolled to his right, stopped, hit his man and then passed the ball to Ty Johnson at midfield. Midway through the first quarter, he hit James Cook with a ball rolling to his left.
Another one, my favorite, he rolls to his right and looks at Keon Coleman downfield and the defense takes away the deep pass so Josh Allen throws it deeper and Coleman Go track the ball. Incredible pass as Josh Allen landed on his back with a guy right in his face. This is just another example of the amazing throws he makes time and time again.
Coach of the Week – Sean Payton, Denver Broncos
It wasn’t a great start for Sean Payton and the Denver Broncos. Jonathan Taylor started celebrating before crossing the goal line and his ridiculous fumble at the goal line certainly helped, but the Broncos held on.
Bonix overcame some interceptions and the defense performed well down the stretch and they are now on a four-game winning streak. We always wondered if they would be caught up or slip up in the AFC playoffs, all they did was win and improve their standing in that conference. They’re ahead of schedule, but that’s what Sean Payton does. He was rude, especially with the media, and he could rub players the wrong way, but all he knew was winning.
On my radar…
I’m focused on what the Miami Dolphins have done in the offseason to change things up. They lost another big game on a big stage against a quality opponent, falling 20-12 to the Houston Texans, who clinched a spot in the AFC South.
It was a winnable game for the Dolphins, but Tua Tagovailoa collapsed with three interceptions and it looked like Mike McDaniel was going There are no answers to the questions DeMeco Ryans has posed to him and his team. The Dolphins can talk all they want about how they want to get better and win big games, but they have failed to do that time and time again under Mike McDaniel and Tua.
Did they bring in a certain type of player? Will they adjust what’s on the roster? Will there be pressure on the head coach and quarterback? I think these two will be very safe, but Miami has to make some changes because they haven’t been good enough in recent years to be considered a contender in the NFL.
