Move over, Ring: Apple is reportedly working on a smart doorbell — one that opens for household members it recognizes.

Apple’s doorbell has advanced facial recognition technology that wirelessly connects to a deadbolt lock, according to a Bloomberg report. The doorbell will open the door for people it recognizes, which works similar to Face ID iPhone. The product is not expected to launch until the end of 2025 at the earliest.

The report is in line with Apple’s broader vision to deepen its footprint in the smart home market, where it has historically lagged behind competitors like Google and Amazon.

Apple also developed a in-home security camera to rival products like Google’s Nest and Amazon’s Ring, Bloomberg added. The camera is expected to be integrated with Apple’s rumored smart home hubdesigned to control connected devices within the home.

A move to the camera security market could also boost the adoption of iCloud subscriptions, where video footage from these devices will be stored, according to the report.
