Mark Williams’ “Welsh Basin” shocks Judd Trump to the World Snooker Championship Final

Mark Williams can certainly win his fourth World Snooker Championship at the age of 50

Veteran Mark Williams shocked Judd Trump to reach the World Snooker Championship final in the Sheffield-based Zhao Xintong and went on to win a fourth title.

Williams won the championship in 2000, 2003 and 2018, and he won the prestigious 17-14 victory over World No Trump to return to the fifth Crucible Final.

The Welsh will be in Zhao after facing each other for eight years in the first round of the qualifying match.

Williams, who had a 7-3 victory earlier in the game, found himself trailing Trump 10-9 as Trump responded to losing his opening frame with a back-to-back break of 71 on Saturday morning.

However, the 50-year-old Welshman then won four of the four out of the next five with the breakouts of 73, 84 and 62, while in the 23rd frame, Trump had only 64 excellent 64 frames, blocking the damage and making the damage worse, entering the evening with a 13-11 lead.

When they returned, Trump tried to fight back, but Williams remained calm to ensure the four frames needed after a great game in the final.

Fans refuse to refund

Snooker fans were angry at the reaction to being denied a refund, as it was originally the fourth quarter of the semi-final between Ronnie O’Sullivan and Zhao Xintong.

Xintong’s command 17-7 win was completed in a standby meeting, meaning there will be no competitive action in the Crucible on Saturday afternoon.

An exhibition by Steve Davis and Dennis Taylor is from the latter’s 40-year-old victory in the famous “Black Ball Final” and takes place from around 2:30 pm to 4 pm, including short periods.

Snooker Tour said the terms and conditions of its box office meant “there is no way to provide ticket refunds or exchanges”, and the news was not downgraded well as they hoped to see seven-time champion O’Sullivan.

“This afternoon, we will host a wonderful exhibition, including Snooker Legends,” WST said in a statement.

“We realized that fans come from all over the world to enjoy the Crucible experience, so our intention is to provide the best entertainment in this situation.

“This is the first time that a semifinal has been completed in a decade, so it’s a very rare thing, and unfortunately, we can’t control it.”
