Political leaders from around the world express their condolences after mass school shooting in Tumbler Ridge, BCin which nine people died, as well as the shooter, and 27 were injured.

Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney says flags on federal buildings will be flown at half-staff seven days to pay tribute to the shooting victims.

“Parents, grandparents, brothers, sisters, you wake up this morning without any of your loved ones. It’s a difficult time. Canada is grieving, grieving with you,” Carney told a media huddle outside the Liberal caucus on Wednesday morning.

“We will get through this, we will learn from this, but now is the time to come together as Canadians always do in these situations.”

The prime minister also said he had heard from a number of world leaders who were following the tragedy with “solidarity and compassion”.

“Our hearts and prayers are with the community of Tumbler Ridge and all of British Columbia today. My personal prayer is that in these difficult times they find the peace and comfort that only He can provide,” Hoekstra published on X.

Statement published on X on behalf of King Charles III, he said he and Queen Camilla were deeply shocked and saddened to learn of the attack and offered their “deepest possible condolences” to those grieving the loss of loved ones.

“In such a close-knit city, every child’s name will be known and every family will be a neighbor,” he said.

“We can only begin to imagine the terrible shadow that has now fallen over Tumbler Ridge and our hearts go out to all those whose lives have been destroyed by this senseless act of brutal violence.”

The king also thanked the police and the staff of the city health center.

French President Emmanuel Macron published on X that “terror struck a school in Tumbler Ridge, Canada.”

“Our thoughts are with the families of the victims, the injured and the entire education community. France stands with the Canadian people,” he said.

Ukrainian President Volodomyr Zelenskyy published on X that he was “shocked” by the news.

“We are shocked by the news of the shooting at the school in Tumbler Ridge, Canada. When children are killed, no one should remain indifferent. Such tragedies should not happen anywhere, in any country in the world. We hope that all those who were injured recover quickly,” he wrote.

“On behalf of all Ukrainians, I extend our sincere condolences to the families and loved ones, to all Canadians and to Prime Minister Mark Carney.”

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his condolences in post on X.

“Deeply shocked by the horrific shooting in Canada,” Modi wrote.

“My sincere condolences to the families who have lost their loved ones and I wish a speedy recovery to those injured. India stands in solidarity with the people of Canada at this time of deep pain.”

Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said he was sending “my sincere condolences to all Canadians affected by this terrible event.”

“I am deeply shocked and saddened to hear of the tragic attack at Tumbler Ridge High School,” his X post read.

“Australia’s hearts go out to the families and friends of the victims and we all think of those injured.”

German Chancellor Friedrich Merz shared a statement of condolences.

“This morning we received terrible news from Canada. The school shooting, which claimed many lives, has deeply shaken us. Our thoughts are with the people of Tumbler Ridge as they grieve for their families, friends and loved ones. I wish the injured a speedy recovery,” Merz published on X.

Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Store said that his country supports them.

Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenković said that this news shocked many.

“We were deeply shaken by the news of the fatal shooting at the high school in Tumbler Ridge, in which several people lost their lives. We express our deepest condolences to the families of the victims, the Canadian people – especially the residents of British Columbia and Tumbler Ridge – as well as Prime Minister Mark Carney,” Plenković said. published on X.
