Weeks after a 70-year-old woman died on a bus, her identity and cause of death have been released. Universal Studios Orlando Revenge of the Mummy rollercoaster.
According to a report from the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (FDACS), on November 25, 2025, the woman became unresponsive while riding the indoor attraction.
She was identified Thursday as Ma de la Luz Mejia Rosas, civil rights attorney Ben Crump’s office said in a statement that her family had retained him.
Rosas was taken to a nearby hospital after losing consciousness during the ride and died of a ruptured aneurysm with no external injuries on Dec. 9 at Orlando Regional Medical Center, according to a report from the Orange County Medical Examiner’s Office obtained by the Orlando Sentinel.

“Mrs. Rosas went to the park to enjoy time with her children and grandchildren, expecting a safe and happy experience. Instead, her family is now grieving and searching for answers,” Crump said in a statement. “They deserve to be fully informed of what happened before, during and after this ride.”
Crump added that he would “thoroughly investigate the circumstances of this tragedy and ensure her family’s voice is heard.”
Revenge of the Mummy is an indoor roller coaster based on the hit films The Mummy and The Mummy Returns. It can reach speeds of 45 mph.

According to data included in the FDACS report, 21 ride incidents have been reported since the attraction opened in 2004, including nausea, dizziness, seizures and vertebral fractures.
The FDACS report lists incidents on a quarterly basis at amusement parks that employ full-time safety inspectors. These parks require self-reporting of incidents because they are not subject to state inspections.

Just months before Rosas’ death, 32-year-old Kevin Rodriguez-Zavala died on September 17 after becoming unresponsive on the Stardust Racer roller coaster at Universal Studios’ Epic Universe park in Orlando. Zavala suffered multiple blunt force injuries and later died at a hospital, authorities said.
Lawyers for Zavala’s family argued that Universal ignored “multiple” warning signs before his death, saying the incident was not “isolated” and that other passengers had reported similar injuries at the same attraction.
Crump, who also represents Zavala’s family, said last month that an amicable resolution had been reached between Universal and Zavala’s family. Terms of the agreement are confidential.
