Shepherd joins eA streamlined company in T20 World Cup history
With the hat-trick, Shepard became the 10th player in the history of the T20 World Cup to achieve this feat. Australian pace legend Brett Lee scored his first hat-trick in the race, setting the benchmark for previous events.
There were 3 hat-tricks in the last T20 World Cup in 2024, including two hat-tricks by Australia captain Pat Cummins and one hat-trick by England pacer Chris Jordan. Shepherd’s efforts now add a proud West Indies chapter to this elite list.
Shepherd’s five-wicket haul seals victory for West Indies
Sheppard’s heroics didn’t end with the hat-trick. He went on to claim a five-wicket win and emerged as the best bowler of the game. Scotland were chasing 183 for 3 for 114 after 13 overs but completely lost steam after Sheppard’s explosive spell.
Looking at the competitive position, Scotland were unable to recover from the sudden loss of wickets as they fell to 147 in just 18.5 overs.
