Even before that It’s: Welcome to Derry ended near the end of last year, viewers want more from the show. HBO radio silence is on another season has been prominent in recent weeks, and according to boss Casey Bloys, that silence is well-intentioned.
Recently The deadline interview, Bloys revealed Derry is “not in limbo at all,” and that he is “happy” greenlight another time. “(Co-creators) Andy and Barbara Muschietti are hard at work trying to come up with an idea for a story they want to tell another time. (…) One of the challenges is, there is no book you base it on, so it’s invention.
the Welcome to Derry end established that Pennywise exists at all points in time, meaning that he can “travel” into the past to kill the ancestors of the 1989 and 1962 children who defeated him. Andy Muschietti has said in the past that he believes the show will have a three-time arc which turns the clock back to the 1930s and 1900s. That idea is further supported by scenes from the show’s intro sequence and several moments spread throughout the first season.
So make no mistake, Bloys and HBO are “there” to greenlight more Derry when the time comes. This will only happen if and only if the Muschiettis think the story is worth putting on screen.
