Washington Sundar joins squad, India coach gives big update on Jasprit Bumrah


Team India batting coach Ryan Ten Dushat provides some big updates on Washington Sundar, Jasprit Bumrahand Abhishek Sharma. The departures of all three cricketers were uncertain due to their respective injury issues.

While Sharma played the opening match of the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup 2026, two other cricketers, Jasprit Bumrah and Washington Sundar, were not part of the squad for the previous match due to injuries. Although the injury was serious, the BCCI decided not to replace him from the T20 World Cup squad. Sundar is back with the Nets after completing his rehab season, and according to current reports, he appears to be healthy enough to play in an official game again.

Washington Sundar’s absence has been a concern for the team management. He also missed the bilateral T20I series against New Zealand before the match due to injury. The 26-year-old underwent a rigorous rehabilitation program at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru. The main focus of the rehab season is building strength and ensuring full recovery. His comeback comes at a good time as India are scheduled to face Pakistan on February 15 after taking on Namibia on February 12.
