The Washington Post directed employees to stay home Wednesday and participate in Zoom webinars ahead of widely expected layoffs.

“We are announcing significant actions across the company today. We are asking everyone to stay home this morning and join a Zoom webinar at 8:30 a.m. ET to share details. We will send detailed invitations later this morning. Please make every effort to join,” wrote executive editor Matt Murray and head of human resources Wayne Connell.

Washington Post staffers have been actively tweeting at billionaire owner Jeff Bezos, urging him to save the paper.

The newspaper’s sports section is expected to be slashed in cuts. Fox News Digital reported last week that the company may lay off about 300 employees.
