Virat Kohli ordered to continue playing till body cannot take anymore as dream of 100 international tons gets new boost

Former India opener feels that ace batsman Virat Kohli should continue to play ODI cricket as long as his health permits. These remarks came after Kohli scored his 85th run against New Zealand in Indore.

India may have lost the series to New Zealand, but there is no doubt that Indian fans were cheering for legendary cricketer Virat Kohli’s brilliant performance. Virat missed just a hundred in Baroda, much to the regret of Indian fans; however, he bounced back with a stunning century in the series decider.

This marked the 29th century by an Indian batsman in chasing runs in ODIs; he accumulated a further 26 centuries when he batted first. However, he could not prevent India from losing the bilateral series.

‘Kohli will surpass 100 centuries’, a former cricketer’s rhetoric after Indore match

Former India opener Sadagopan Ramesh has reflected on Virat Kohli’s commanding style and said he should continue to play the game as long as his body allows.

The champion batsman clinched the series with a total of 338, knocking on the door again for a long time in India’s chase. He is often referred to as the ‘Chase Master’ and hence, he makes an impact whenever he pursues a 100-century record.

Ramesh said on his YouTube channel: “Virat Kohli’s brilliant score of 85 centuries has once again raised questions about when he will reach 100 centuries. However, we should not focus on this issue but tell him to continue playing until he stays fit. By doing this, Kohli will not only surpass 100 centuries, but will go far beyond this number.”

“Virat Kohli is the only one who can bring life into the game” – Sadagopan Ramesh

The former India opener credited the Indian legend for keeping Team India’s hopes alive in an almost impossible chase in Indore. Before this match, India had not lost an ODI match in Indore.

With all the top batsmen back in the hut as the hosts floundered at 71/4, Kohli struck up a partnership with the low bowling all-rounder and was dismissed for the fall of the 9th wicket as India fell just 46 runs short of victory.

“Virat Kohli was the only one who could breathe life into the match once India chased such a huge target. He was on fire again from the start. Everyone was sad that Kohli almost missed out on a century in the first ODI in ’93, but he made up for it with a memorable century last night,” said Ramesh (via the source mentioned above).

Kohli approaches 100th century in international cricket

Virat Kohli scored one more goal in Indore to mark the 54th century of his ODI career. This marks another new record added to the astonishing record he set during his A-level career, in which he remains the tallest centurion.

He is also the second-highest centurion in international cricket, having accumulated 85 centuries in his international career. He is second only to the great Sachin Tendulkar, who has 100 centuries in his career.
