Minnesota Vikings fail to advance to playoffs for second time in four years National Football League Playoffs. While a 9-8 record in 2025 doesn’t immediately lead to change, Vikings ownership announced a major move on Friday.
In a statement, vikings co-owner Brothers Zygi and Mark Wilf said the organization has decided to part ways with general manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah.
“Following our annual end-of-season organizational meeting held over the past few weeks, and after careful consideration, we have decided that it is in the best interest of the team to move forward with new football operations leadership. These decisions are never easy. We thank Kwesi for his contributions and commitment to the organization over the past four years and wish him and his family the best in the future.”

Adofo-Mensah spoke to the media at the end-of-season press conference on January 13. He was seen performing day-to-day general manager duties this week at the Senior Bowl in Mobile, Alabama. Just seven months ago, the Vikings announced a multi-year contract extension with Adofo-Mensah.

While Adofo-Mensah is credited with building a team with a winning record in three of his four seasons as general manager, Adofo-Mensah’s draft choices have also faced scrutiny at times. quarterback choice JJ McCarthy A first-round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, he’s drawing special attention as injuries and uneven play limit his playing time and production.
The Vikings are one of only 11 NFL teams to have failed to draft a player who became a Pro Bowler at any point from 2022-25.

Adofo-Mensah replaces Rick Spielman, who was fired in 2022. Spielman first joined the Vikings in 2006 as the team’s vice president of player personnel and was later promoted to general manager in 2012.

Adofo-Mensah played basketball while attending Princeton University. He served in an analytics role with the San Francisco 49ers in 2013, bringing an analytics-centric approach to Minnesota. Prior to joining the Vikings, Adofo-Mensah was the Cleveland Browns’ vice president of football operations.
The Vikings own the No. 18 pick in this year’s draft.
