Venezuela announces amnesty push aimed at mass release of political prisoners




Venezuela’s interim president Delcy Rodriguez on Friday announced plans for a “general amnesty” law that could trigger a mass release of political prisoners. Rodriguez also proposed closing the notorious El Helicoide prison in Caracas, where rights groups claim political prisoners are being tortured by ousted leader Nicolas Maduro’s intelligence services.
