Vehicle St. Paul police say may have been pursued by federal agents crashes downtown

A car being pursued by federal agents was reportedly Saint Paul, Minnesota, Wednesday, leaving one person with non-life-threatening injuries.

St. Paul police said Wednesday that officers were called to the intersection of West Avenue and Selby Avenue around 9:39 a.m. in response to a crash. “It was reported that a large crowd had gathered,” the department added.

“Preliminary information we have received is that federal agents were pursuing an individual inside the vehicle when it crashed,” St. Paul police said in a statement. “The individual being pursued suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital by St. Paul Fire Department paramedics.”

An unnamed witness told Fox News Digital that the crash involved about three or four cars and that there was a “massive protest” in the parking lot. Additionally, the person who spoke to Fox News Digital said she recognized the cars of two of the people, one of whom had just gone to get coffee at a local spot and the other who was working nearby.

Federal authorities have not confirmed any involvement. U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Department of Homeland Security Fox News Digital immediately responded to a request for comment.

Tensions have raged for more than a month between federal agents and locals in the St. Paul-Minneapolis area following the Jan. 7, 2026 shooting death of Renee Good. The two deaths sparked protests and criticism from Minnesota leaders over the Trump administration’s crackdown on illegal immigration in the state.
