Investing.com – UK stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the , and sectors led shares higher.

At the close in London, the gainer was 0.43%.

The best performers of the session were Airtel Africa Plc (LON:), which rose 2.68% or 2.91 points to trade at 111.51 at the close. Meanwhile, Pershing Square Holdings Ltd (LON:) added 2.23% or 84.00 points to end at 3,844.00 and B&M European Value Retail SA (LON: ) was up 2.17% or 7.80 points to 365.60 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Vistry Group PLC (LON:), which fell 16.06% or 105.00 points to trade at 549.00 at the close. Persimmon PLC (LON:) declined 2.40% or 29.00 points to end at 1,188.00 and Taylor Wimpey PLC (LON:) was down 1.47% or 1.80 points to 120.30.

Advancing stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1087 to 518 and 135 ended unchanged.

Vistry Group PLC (LON:) shares hit 52-week low; down 16.06% or 105.00 to 549.00. Shares of Persimmon PLC (LON:) fall to 52-week low; down 2.40% or 29.00 to 1,188.00. Taylor Wimpey PLC (LON:) shares hit 52-week low; fell 1.47% or 1.80 to 120.30.

Gold Futures for February delivery rose 0.11% or 2.99 to $2,631.19 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, crude oil for delivery in February rose 1.34% or 0.93 to hit $70.17 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 1.20% or 0.87 to trade at $73.19 a barrel.

GBP/USD was unchanged 0.04% to 1.25, while EUR/GBP was unchanged 0.04% to 0.83.

US Dollar Index Futures rose 0.17% to 108.00.
