Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) CEO Dana White dismissed concerns that he was being “too political” with his comments. Friendship with President Donald Trump on “CBS Sunday Morning News.”
White discussed several topics with CBS News reporter Luke Burbank, including his longstanding support of Trump since acquiring the UFC decades ago. This led to White supporting Trump during the 2024 presidential election and eventually speaking at the convention republican national convention.
Burbank asked White if he thought he should be less “overtly political” for fear he might alienate potential fans.

“Especially as it relates to sports leagues right now, I think the idea should be to try not to be overtly political because then you might lose half your fan base or try to really stay in the middle,” Burbank said.
“How about being true to yourself and being yourself?” Bai responded. “How about it? Let’s be honest. You don’t have to agree with me, you don’t have to agree with me, and I don’t have to agree with you, but we can still get along. I mean, that’s the way it should be.”

Burbank reported that White pushed Trump to speak on youth “manosphere” podcasts that some believe helped the president win the election.

“Donald Trump is a man’s man. I know younger generations can relate to Donald Trump,” White said.

“I mean, I don’t know that this is ever going to get too political outside of the White House,” White said.
He added, “Listen, if you look back at history, I think (former President) George Bush was a huge baseball fan, (former President Barack) Obama was an NBA fan, Trump was a UFC fan. I don’t think any of those fans made any sport too political.”
