U.S. military crackdown on illegal vessels in Pacific leaves two dead

U.S. Southern Command (SOUTHCOM) announced on Monday that U.S. military An operation against a drug-trafficking ship in the Eastern Pacific resulted in two deaths and one survivor.

“On February 9, under the direction of #SOUTHCOM Commander Gen. Francis L. Donovan, Joint Task Force Southern Spear conducted a deadly kinetic attack on a vessel operated by a designated terrorist organization,” the agency said.

After the attack, the U.S. Southern Command said it immediately notified the U.S. Coast Guard to search for survivors.
