Tyson Fury will target his old rival Oleksandr Usyk upon his comeback, promoter Frank Warren says.
Fury will return to the ring on April 11 in the UK to face Arslambek Makhmudov.
Fury announced his retirement early last year after losing to Usyk twice in 2024. Now he has turned that around and harbors ambitions of becoming a three-time world champion.
Usyk vacated the WBO gold belt, but still holds the unified world heavyweight title of WBC, IBF and WBA. Fury welcomes a trilogy fight with the Ukrainian.

“He wants to be the best. He always has. He told me he wanted to fight Usyk again,” Warren told me sky sports news.
“Tyson is a fighter. He loves it. He goes to the gym and when he starts training seriously, he wants to see the end result, and his end result is fighting.
“To me, he doesn’t need to fight. He’s cemented his legacy. But he’s continuing to fight and he’s going to be a great addition to the heavyweight division. He’s a great personality. The crowd came out for him and this is a very, very important moment in his career.”
Warren added: “If he’s going to come back, I’d rather he come back now than four or five years later when his power might be diminished.”

Now that Wardley has become the WBO heavyweight champion, Fury has other options besides Usyk.
“It’s a great fight. Fabio will be boxing in late April, early May. We will announce who his opponent is,” Warren said.
“This heavyweight division is heating up. It’s heating up and there are some great fights there. Moses (Itamar) is going to face American Jermaine Franklin on March 28. That’s a big, big fight. He wants to be the next big thing.”

Fury must first clear the 260-pound hurdle of his April opponent Mahmudov. “It was a very, very tough comeback for me. He came right back,” Warren recalled.
“He’s been out of the ring for almost two years by the time this fight starts. He’s made it very clear that he wants to fight this year and wants big fights. This is a big guy with a good knockout rate.
“It’s going to be a tough comeback for him. But if he can get through it, we’ll see where we go.”
