Tyson Fury announces his retire From boxing…about the 47th time. This time, he bowed out after consecutive losses to Alexander Usyk. Yes, Fury, who once said he would fight anyone, anywhere, has decided to call it quits. again. perhaps.
The 36-year-old heavyweight was defeated by Usyk in their rematch in December, but no one expected him to give up on his career. After all, he had retired before. And not retired. Then retired again. Predicting Fury’s next move is like guessing the weather in Manchester – good luck with that.
Joshua vs. Fury? Didn’t happen (obviously)
Just last week, Anthony Joshua caused a stir when he said a fight with Fury “has to happen” this year. Saudi boxing superstar Turki al-Arasheh has even hinted at making the all-British blockbuster a reality. Wembley Stadium is said to be fully booked, with fans buzzing and boxing Twitter going into meltdown mode.
But no. Fury posted one of his signature cryptic messages on social media:
“Hi everyone, I’m going to keep this short and sweet. I want to announce my retirement from boxing. It’s been awesome and I loved every minute of it. I’m going to end with this – Dick Turpin wearing a mask .God bless you all and see you on the other side.”
Dick Turpin? mask? Is this a retirement speech or an audition for a historical drama?

A retirement life that can never last
Let’s be honest, Fury’s retirement is as important as the featherweight division. Remember 2022? After defeating Dillian Whyte, he declared he was done, but returned later that year to face Derek Chisora. He also delivered a dramatic speech at the time:
“Every good dog has his day. As the great Roman leader said, there is always someone else to fight. When is enough, enough?”
Apparently, “enough” lasts until the next payday. So is Tyson Fury’s career over? perhaps. But if history tells us anything, we’ll see him return to the ring — possibly with a new set of excuses and another cryptic Instagram post.
