President-elect Trump seems to agree with Elon Musk Support H-1B visas for U.S. skilled workers as the right choice in the ongoing immigration debate.

Trump’s comments come as immigration and the place of foreign workers in the U.S. labor market collide.

Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy, Earlier this week, Trump appointed him to lead the Department of Government Effectiveness (DOGE), saying that American culture does not value education enough, so technology companies such as Musk’s SpaceX and Tesla need foreign workers.

Many tech companies have accepted the H-1B visa program, which allows U.S. companies to hire foreign workers in specialized occupations, but critics of the program say H-1B holders are often selected over U.S. citizens.

One of those critics, Laura Loomer, sparked controversy on X when she criticized Trump’s choice of Indian-American venture capitalist Sriram Krishnan as an artificial intelligence policy adviser. There was an uproar.

Musk hardened his stance, taking to Twitter on Friday to attack a user who played a video of him discussing SpaceX’s process for going after the billionaire’s stance on the visa program.

Ramaswamy also supports H-1B visas, writing: “American culture favors mediocrity over excellence.”
