Tottenham tormented more with devastating Odobert injury update

The injury further reduces their options on the right wing.

Tottenham Forward Wilson Odobert will miss the rest of the season after suffering a torn ACL.

Audobert was forced off in the 35th minute of Tottenham’s 2-1 defeat to Newcastle United on Tuesday, marking Thomas Frank’s final match in charge. Later fired

Spurs are just five points up Premier League relegation zone With 12 games to play, and their next manager, interim or otherwise, will not have the services of Audobert as Tottenham aim to avoid the drop.

A statement from Tottenham read: “We can confirm that Wilson Odobert has ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee.

“Wilson will see a specialist next week before undergoing surgery, and will then begin his rehabilitation with our medical staff.”

Audobert has scored two goals and registered four assists in all competitions this season and Tottenham are short of options on the right wing due to his injury.

What Odobert’s injury means for Tottenham

Tottenham are facing a terrible injury crisis, and now there are only three players, Mathis Tell and Randall Kolo Muani and Xavi Simmons, who can play on the right wing.

Dejan Kulusevski, Richarlison and Mohamed Kudus, who was Tottenham’s preferred player on the right side of attack, are injured.

Audobert made just 10 Premier League starts this season. Of their remaining options, Kolo Muani would be the most likely to get the nod at right-back, twice as tall, after making 12 league starts.

Simmons found a home on the left wing under Frank, with the Netherlands international putting in some improved performances.

The decision as to who fills that position will, of course, depend significantly on the new manager.

Roberto De Zerbi, who left Marseille by mutual consent this week, is the current bookies’ favorite for the job.

John Hettinga, who was recently appointed to be part of Frank’s backroom staff, is also considered a contender, as is former Spurs striker Robbie Keane. The Irishman has been enjoying a highly successful spell at Hungarian side Ferencvaros.

A dream appointment for many Tottenham fans will see a return for former boss Mauricio Pochettino.

Pochettino was sacked by Tottenham in 2019, having established Spurs as a regular fixture in the top four and suffered a 2–0 defeat to Liverpool.

Tottenham’s next game is the North London derby with Arsenal in a week on Sunday.

In addition to their problems in the forward areas, Tottenham are also dealing with player injuries elsewhere in the squad.
