tottenham hotspur A record-breaking striker is on the verge of signing and he has now agreed to join Thomas Frankon deadline day, according to a new report.
Spurs are heading into a busy deadline day after bringing in two players to bolster Frank’s injury-plagued squad earlier this month.
The Fleuries spent £34m on midfielder Connor Gallagher after Rodrigo Bentancur was ruled out for the season with a hamstring injury. They also introduced Brazilian left back Sousa from Santos. The teenager’s contract expires in 2031.
The comeback against Manchester City provided a glimmer of hope for Frank, who has been heavily criticized by fans for lackluster domestic performances this season.
Trailing 2-0 at half-time, Dominic Solanke salvaged a point with a brace against the Sky Blues, including a stunning scorpion kick.
That being said, with so many players injured, fans will be hoping for more production at the deadline.
To their dismay, Tottenham Hotspur spent much of the day arguing with Arsenal over a deal for the Hearts striker James Wilson loan.
The 18-year-old forward has become a surprise deadline day hit. Arsenal and Tottenham were locked in a fierce battle to sign him in the final hours before the 7pm deadline.
Wilson burst onto the scene at Tynecastle last season, scoring six goals for Hearts, including a dramatic equalizer in the Edinburgh derby against Hibernian.
But this season has been frustrating – he has made just one start in the Scottish League under head coach Derek McInnes, finishing behind four or five senior forwards.
Arsenal’s talks revolve around Wilson potentially joining their Under-21s on loan, giving the youngster game time after limited opportunities in Scotland.
The Gunners are considering academy reinforcements following Ethan Nwaneri’s loan move to Marseille, but talkSPORT’s Ben Jacobs has now dropped a bombshell that Wilson will join Tottenham Hotspur after agreeing terms.
Tottenham ‘ready to sign’ Hearts’ James Wilson
Arsenal appeared to have an early advantage after yesterday’s negotiations, but Spurs completed the hold in the dying seconds.
Jacobs reports that Wilson has agreed to join Tottenham Hotspur, with Frank’s side ready to complete a deal for the teenager.
What’s the key difference? sky sports Confirmation that Tottenham’s offer could include an option to buy clause would give Hearts and Wilson greater security over his long-term future.
Arsenal are apparently only willing to offer the teenager a trial period, rather than commit to a secured loan with an option to buy.
Wilson made history in March last year when he became Scotland’s youngest ever male international, breaking a record when he made his debut in the Nations League against Greece aged just 18 years and 17 days. Has been around since the 19th century.
He has represented his country at various youth levels and, despite his young age, has already made 45 senior appearances for Hearts.
Former Hearts boss Neil Critchley has previously described Wilson as “incredible” during his time at Tynecastle, praising the youngster’s work ethic and natural finishing ability.
The striker has shown real quality when given the opportunity, but McInnes has preferred more experienced options this season.
Now, it remains to be seen whether the young Scot will break into the Tottenham Hotspur first team long-term, but the signs are pretty good.
