The board of directors of TIE, chaired by Ehsanul Karim Kaiser with ASM Tareq Amin as member secretary, convened its inaugural meeting on January 22, 2026 at Uttara Club, Dhaka.
Industry groups such as BGMEA, BKMEA and BTMA have identified challenges facing the sector, including rising compliance costs, energy disruptions and economic pressures as competition intensifies and traditional cost advantages diminish. These organizations have stressed the need for greater innovation to maintain competitiveness.
TIE aims to promote practical innovation in all areas of textile and apparel operations by engaging factories, buyers, brands, trade associations, academics, technology providers, experts and policy makers.
The initiative has also announced its leadership for the operational divisions. Dr. Hasib Uddin will serve as the Component Director and oversee both the Innovation Wing and the Expo Wing. Prof. Dr. Ayub Nabi Khan will head the Research Area, while Saiful Islam Khan will be responsible for the Self-Readiness Index and the Reconnaissance Wing.
Other members of the board of directors are Md. Shamsuzzaman, ATM Mahbubul Alam Milton, ASM Hafizur Rahman Nixon, Md. Azhar Ali and Shafiur Rahman.
The TIE secretariat consists of trade and innovation economist Enamul Hafiz Latifee and Rahbar Hossain.
The innovation wing intends to equip 50 factories and 500 mid- and senior-level professionals with the necessary skills to develop an innovation-focused culture through targeted training programs and hands-on factory initiatives.
The research wing will bring academia and industry together to address operational challenges through applied research and data-driven approaches.
Through its self-readiness index and recognition wing, TIE will provide tools for factories to assess their readiness in areas of innovation and compliance while recognizing those that demonstrate satisfactory results.
TIE plans to hold the Textile Innovation Expo (TIEx) in late 2026 to highlight advances in factory innovation, connect solution providers with manufacturers and buyers, and encourage the adoption of proven solutions across the industry.
During the same period, concurrent exhibitions focusing on innovation in dyeing and printing, innovation in fibres, yarns and fabrics, as well as innovation in garments are scheduled.
