Thomas Frank sacked: Tottenham Hotspur manager leaves after less than eight months on the job

Tottenham Hotspur have sacked head coach Thomas Frank after less than eight months in charge, Sky Sports News understands.

Spurs fans booed Frank’s sacking and chanted during Tuesday’s 2-1 loss to Newcastle.

It is understood that club executives believe Frank’s position is no longer tenable.

Spurs are 16th in the Premier League table, five points above the relegation zone, and have won just two of their last 17 league games.

Frank left Brentford in June to replace Angie Postkoglu and despite the Australians winning the Europa League, he was sacked.

But the former Bees boss failed to win over Spurs fans and his short tenure was marked by frustrations, including drinking from a coffee cup bearing the crest of rivals Arsenal.

Frank has won only 13 of 38 games in charge, and in the loss to Newcastle, his winning percentage is the worst of any Tottenham manager in the Premier League era, at 26.9%.

The 52-year-old’s departure means Spurs are looking for their sixth permanent manager in seven years since Mauricio Pochettino left in 2019.

Frank’s successor will take over a team that has exited both domestic cup competitions but remains in the knockout stages of the Champions League after the Dane guided them to fourth in the table.

Spurs next play their next match, live on Sky, on Sunday, February 22, when they host Premier League rivals Arsenal before traveling to Fulham. Both games will be broadcast live sky sports.

Tottenham Hotspur have yet to comment.
