US President-elect Donald Trump overruled bipartisan efforts to prevent a government shutdown, after rejecting a temporary bill and pressuring Republican lawmakers to renegotiate it or risk their political careers. The new law would keep federal funding at current levels through March after the current short-term spending plan expires Friday night. In addition, the ongoing political crisis in Georgia is taking its toll on its economy, especially tourism.
