“I have very little correspondence with Epstein and have declined repeated invitations to go to his island or fly on his ‘Lolita Express,’ but am well aware that some email correspondence with him could be misinterpreted and used by detractors to smear my name,” Musk said in a post at X on Saturday. “I have nothing to do with that, but my concern is that we at least try to prosecute those who committed serious crimes with Epstein, especially regarding the horrific exploitation of minor girls.” Musk did not immediately respond to a request for comment from WIRED.
Larry Page (314 Files), Sergey Brin (294 Files)
The Google cofounders appear in Epstein’s files about the same number of times, and both have been linked to Epstein in the past. Page and Brin are the same issued subpoenas in 2023 related to a civil case in the US Virgin Islands against JP Morgan Chase tied to Epstein’s sex trafficking crimes. on court documents In relation to Virginia Giuffre’s defamation case against Ghislaine Maxwell, which was unsealed in 2024, Epstein’s victim Sarah Ransome said she met Brin and his fiancee, Anne Wojcicki, before their wedding in 2007, “when they visited the island for the day.”
The recently released DOJ files provide a more complete picture of their relationship with Epstein, especially for Brin. An email exchange in April 2003 with Ghislaine Maxwell suggests that Brin had dinner at Epstein’s New York townhouse that month. (“Dinners at Jeffrey’s are always delightfully casual and relaxed,” Maxwell WRITES.) To this, Brin offered to invite “our CEO Eric,” referring to former Google CEO Eric Schmidt, though he said that “Schmidt’s schedule is probably very full,” and there was no indication that Schmidt attended.
Page also appears to be in contact with Epstein. “David Gergen asked who was at lunch or dinner years ago when he came to your house and the Google guys were there (Larry Page and Sergey Brin),” Groff WRITES to Epstein in 2015. There are references in the files, too, to alleged business dealings between Page and Epstein. “Larry Page’s chief pilot, Tony contacted Nicolas today and is interested ‘again’ using your Bell 407 for the St. Barts operation,” said a email to Epstein from a redacted address sent on December 23, 2010, followed by a breakdown of potential associated charges. The Bell 407 is a type of helicopter; emails shows that an entity called “Air Ghislaine Inc” purchased one on October 30, 2002. The “St. Barts operation” appears to be a visit; Epstein was informed of a email later the same day “Larry Page has changed his mind and will use the boat in st barts.”
On another occasion, Epstein emailed a link to a news story about Google’s testing of “internet-broadcasting drones” in New Mexico to a redacted address. “You can tell Larry Page they can use my runway = most of this land is my ranch,” he WRITES. There is no indication that this happened. Alphabet did not immediately respond to a request for comment from WIRED. Anne Wojcicki did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Mark Zuckerberg (282 Files), Jeff Bezos (196 Files), Eric Schmidt (193 Files)
While Epstein appeared to be emailing primarily about Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg rather than with him, the files show at least one occasion when the two met. They are both on the invitation list emailed by assistant Reid Hoffman for a dinner on August 2, 2015, with neuroscientist Ed Boyden. Peter Thiel, Elon Musk, and Joi Ito were among the other guests. Hoffman followed a few days later with a email to Zuckerberg and Epstein with the subject line “intros.” “Jeffrey, Zuck,” the message read, “email connections from the Ed Boyden dinner — to continue the convo.”
There was no sign that Zuckerberg responded. And otherwise, Epstein appears to spend a lot of time emailing about Zuckerberg marriage to Priscilla Chan, she too seemly a Nobel Peace Prize—than him.
