President Donald Trump posted nonstop on Truth Social Tuesday morning ahead of his flight to Davos, Switzerland, for the World Economic Forum. He shared AI-generated images of the conquest of Greenland, he called for unnamed officials from the Biden era to be indicted for unspecified crimes, and he tried to tell the Department of Homeland Security how to post better to win the propaganda war in Minnesota. He even shared the private Signal conversations he had with European leaders.
Every Trump post is a fascist threat that should be taken seriously. But sitting here on January 20, 2026, a year since he was inaugurated for his second term, Trump’s constant postings don’t make him any less pathetic. Amidst the chaos of his online presence, the desperation that emanates from each tweet is perhaps reason to hope that average Americans will prevail in the fight against Trumpism.
Not a strong man
“The entire problem we have with criminals in our Nation is caused by Sleepy Joe Biden and the Radical Left Thugs that surround the Resolution (sic) Desk in the Oval Office – And, of course, the Illegal Use of the Auto Pen!!! They need to go to jail!” Trump wrote on his social media platform Truth Social.
It’s pathetic. Crying. Weak.
For starters, it’s called the Resolute Desk, not the “Resolution Desk.” But if we set aside for a moment the president’s ignorance of basic facts, these are the words of a very desperate man. Go back and think about how things felt in the pre-Trump era. Think of any other president in US history who has complained about the previous president in such a way—a year after he took office, especially. And then think about what Trump is asking for. Is it clear? Does he know yet?
Trump has been trying to turn President Biden’s use of the auto-pen into some sort of scandal for some time now. He insisted that the use of the autopen, a tool used by many presidents (including Trump) to put a signature on various documents, invalidates all signed items. Take a closer look at the post, though. Trump has never determined who should go to jail. He never explained the alleged crime committed. He’s just shouting into the void known as Truth Social. He is pathetic. A dangerous man, sure, but every new post seems like an admission of inadequacy.
ICE propaganda
Or take another post Trump sent Tuesday about the media strategy currently being deployed by DHS and ICE to push propaganda involving federal employment in Minnesota. Trump has sent thousands of undercover state police to terrorize immigrant communities, and he wants the DHS to “start talking about the murderers and other criminals they arrest.” DHS regularly sends out tweets and media statements doing just that, even though they often lie about the conditions of the people they’re after.
Trump insisted in his post that the pushback Minnesotans are showing is artificial and comes from paid agitators. “Show the Numbers, Names, and Faces of the violent criminals, and show them NOW. People will start supporting the ICE Patriots, instead of the highly paid troublemakers, anarchists, and agitators! MAKE AMERICA AGAIN,” Trump wrote.
The president often tries to direct media messaging this way, whether it’s on immigration or anything that displeases him on late-night comedy shows or Fox News circlejerks. But he knows he lost somewhere like Minnesota today. He claimed in that post that people were not supporting “ICE patriots” and instead were supporting “troublemakers” and anarchists. His argument is that by changing the message, people will see the right point of view.
But such a push never seems to succeed. Trump lives and dies by media coverage. And social media provides a unique window for people to see what’s happening in Minnesota more clearly. Anyone who isn’t white always harassed on the road; secret police arresting citizens while denying them access to lawyersand an ICE agent literally shot an unarmed woman on the face. Renee Good’s death is just one of many if Trump’s goons continue their campaign of terror.
People can see with their own eyes that the people fighting back in Minnesota are not outside agitators. Did some shadowy cabal send paid protesters in their bathrobes to give ICE agents low self-esteem? Because if you look at the pictures that come out of the state, it’s Minnesotans. Who else would go out in freezing temperatures to record the secret police while wearing their coats?

DHS admits that its agents with the Border Patrol and ICE are the real victims in all of this. The agency believes that anyone who dares to speak out against their abducted neighbors is simply evil.
Rep. told. Michael McCaul on ABC’s This Week on Sunday that they suffered “8,000 verbal attacks.” DHS did not respond to emailed questions Sunday about how it tracks “verbal assaults” and whether that metric is new.
It’s just pathetic.
Greenland and the end of NATO
Trump also posted about Greenland, the story of the day that unsettled markets and put European leaders in the uncomfortable position of considering a shooting war with a longtime ally. Trump wants to get Greenland, either by purchase or invasion, and has made it his number one priority lately. European countries sent troops to the country to defend it.
The president posted an AI-generated image Tuesday morning showing himself, Vice President JD Vance, and Secretary of State Marco Rubio all standing awkwardly in Greenland. Trump is holding an American flag, planting it in the country, next to a sign that reads “Greenland, US territory, approx. 2026.”

He also shared a edited image showing him in the Oval Office of the White House, sitting with European leaders and a map of the western hemisphere showing an American flag graphic that includes Canada, Greenland, and Venezuela. The original image, which is in Wikipediashows that the poster board in the Oval Office originally showed a map of Ukraine.
Seventy percent of Americans oppose using federal funds to buy Greenland, and 86% oppose taking Greenland by force, according to the latest polling by CBS News. Every post he makes about Greenland doesn’t sound like it’s from a position of strength.
Trump shared private Signal messages with French President Emmanuel Macron on Truth Social on Monday night, including one in which Macron said he did not understand what he is trying to accomplish in Greenland. Again, that is not the move of a confident leader. Sharing your private text messages is something a kid with internet beef can do, not the leader of the richest country on Earth.
Trump’s regime is floating
The threat of Trumpism is real. News broke Tuesday that federal prosecutors have issued subpoenas to at least five Minnesota Democratic political leaders who have spoken out against the president, according to New York Timesincluding Gov. Tim Walz and Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey. This is the kind of historical development that needs to be taken seriously because it feels like a potential prelude to civil war. But Trump knows he has lost any semblance of popular support. He thinks he can change that with his posts and just by setting the record straight on TV.
Trump appeared in the White House briefing room on Tuesday afternoon, another example of his desperation. He rambled on for over an hour (it’s still happening as I type this) on countless topics, including tariffs, Somalia, and how his mother said he was going to be a professional baseball player. Seriously.
“Maybe I have a bad relationship with public people,” Trump insisted. “But we won’t say it.”
No one knows what the future holds for the United States. But whatever happens, Trump knows he has no support. And it killed him. Whatever may be discouraging you now about the state of the country, you may appreciate a little knowledge. The fascists are on the back foot. And the people can still win.
