Newcastle United cruised to a commanding 3-0 home win over an Aston Villa side playing with ten men for an hour.
for Second game in a rowThe Magpies broke the deadlock in the opening two minutes. Anthony Gordon ripped through the top left corner of Villa’s box and released Amy Martinez – Announced by FIFA As the best goalkeeper in the world – fisted in the air as the ball goes into the top corner.
Newcastle, buoyed not only by Gordon’s screamer but by three consecutive and goal-laden wins, went in search of a second. Villa John Duran had not had a single shot on target in open play before the frustrations of the game let him get the better of him.
Duran tangled with Fabian Schar shortly after the half-hour mark, sending the centre-back to the turf in a fair shoulder-to-shoulder before getting to his feet. Duran, who was going to the ground himself, dug both of his entrenched legs into Schar.
Anthony Taylor drew a straight red card, much to the Colombia striker’s apparent shock. This The Premier League will explain later That Duran was fired for “violent behavior.”
The match was clearly tilted towards the Villa goal with all 22 players present and accounted for. Numerically superior Newcastle seemed to run downhill for the remainder of the match, swarming Martinez’s net.
Alexander Isak doubled up late NewcastleThe lead just before the hour mark, tapping in Jacob Murphy’s square pass after a superb goal from Bruno Guimaraes. The pair linked up once again minutes later only to be denied by an offside flag. VAR also disallowed Bruno Guimaraes a goal but Joelinton was not to be denied.
For the second time on Boxing Day, Martinez was beaten by a fiery curler, with Joelinton watching helplessly as he headed home the top corner in the first minute of stoppage time.
An emphatic and thoroughly deserved victory for Newcastle saw them leapfrog Villa, and climb into fifth place. Premier League Table While their beaten visitors are ninth.
