The Analogue Pocket handheld retro console proved to be extremely popular, as initial runs sold out. The company just announced the system with dock accessories. Preorders open March 4th at 11AM ET, with shipments coming out this June.
That’s the good news. The bad news? The small console has been slapped with a price hike. It shot up to $240 from a recent price of $220, with the company President Trump’s never-ending tariffs. The device is assembled in China and Trump only after the Supreme Court struck down the old ones. We love to suddenly pay more for gadgets that have been out of the wild for nearly six years, don’t we?
For the uninitiated, Pocket is not an emulation engine. It plays actual Game Boy, Game Boy Color and Game Boy Advance cartridges. It also integrates with various Game Boy accessories, such as a camera and printer. The console can even handle Game Gear, TurboGrafx-16 and Atari Lynx games, but these require separate adapters.
We appreciate the Analogue Pocket calling it “a clever little thing” that’s sure to light up the nostalgia center of your brain. It even made our list of which is a famous given competition includes things like Steam Deck.
In any event, this drop is likely to sell out quickly. We recommend parking a browser on company website before 11AM ET if you can stomach the new price.
