Tennessee mayor clashes with Democrats over Planned Parenthood Facebook post

Mayor Weston Wamp of Hamilton County, Tennessee, found himself dealing with local democratic officials This week, a community member’s comments about Planned Parenthood on its Facebook page sparked sharp criticism and public political conflict.

According to Chattanooga Local 3 NewsThe exchange took place last Christmas after a commenter commented on the Wamp family’s post, writing: “This is why we need Planned Parenthood and this photo is here.”

Wamp, a Republican, took a screenshot of the comment and wrote in another post: “Recently, a commenter on my family’s Christmas post said my kids were a reason we need Planned Parenthood.

“I find this vicious comment completely inconsistent with Hamilton County’s values,” he said.

Wamp also shared a screenshot of a post from Kathy Lennon, the former vice chair of the Hamilton County Democratic Party, detailing how she spent the weekend on a “campaign crash course” at Planned Parenthood.

“Now, we also see Democratic activist Proudly working with Planned Parenthood to train for the 2026 event. Relying on Planned Parenthood for campaign training is a new low for local Democrats,” Wamp continued in the headline, according to Local 3 News.

According to local media reports, Wamp chattanoogandescribed the images as representing “two very different visions for the future of Hamilton County.”

The statement went on to note that infrastructure issues in the region Chattanoogawhile accusing Wamp of “governing through the comments section” and “engaging in performative politics rather than delivering results.”
