Teddy Atlas on Tyson Fury vs. Makhmudov: ‘He can kill’

Respected boxing coach and analyst Teddy Atlas has given his opinion on Tyson Fury’s comeback fight against Arslanbek Mahmudov, which is set to take place in two months.

A two-time heavyweight boxing champion, Fury hung up his gloves after the fight. Failed to beat Oleksandr Usyk twice during 2024Failed to capture the undisputed title and lost their unbeaten run with two defeats in Saudi Arabia.

At home, however, the ‘Gypsy King’ remains unbeaten, with the 37-year-old announcing he will end his retirement and fight on British soil for the first time since 2022. He’s ready to face tough Russian Makhmudov.

talking about his podcastTeddy Atlas has expressed some concerns about the punishment Fury has received over the years, but admits he still supports the Briton getting the job done against Makhmudov.

“It’s a fun fight, it’s not a dunk, it’s not a layup. Fury is getting older and he’s taken a lot of hits over the past few years against Wilder and Usyk.

“He’s fighting a gigantic man, and he’s been knocked down, but he’s also a gigantic man who can box, he’s tough, he’s game. You can fight him, but he’s a game, game man, and he’s big as hell, and he’s a mountain of a man, and he can hit.”

“Tyson Fury is definitely a guy who can box, a guy who has more dimensions, more options. It’s always good to have more options, he can fight you like he did with Wilder, but he can box with you on the outside.

“So, at the end of the day, you have to support Fury, but there’s one question that always hangs over guys late in their career – what’s left of him?”

Fury – Mahmudov will take place on Saturday, April 11, and will be streamed on Netflix, but no official location has been confirmed yet.
