Cricket West Indies said it was “working closely with the International Cricket Council (ICC), relevant government agencies and airline partners to ensure safe travel arrangements for the team and support staff at the earliest possible opportunity”.
The ICC is headquartered in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates, where airports have been vandalized in the past few days and multiple bombings have been reported.
Cricket’s world governing body said it has activated comprehensive contingency plans to protect everyone associated with the T20 World Cup.
Defending champions and tournament hosts India, England, South Africa and New Zealand will all remain in India semifinals.
Sri Lanka, the other host country, plays its final match of the tournament in the Super Eight stage which ends on Sunday.
South Africa will face New Zealand in the first semi-final at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Wednesday, while England will face India at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Thursday.
The final will be held in Ahmedabad on Sunday.
