Despite several players wanting to leave, Sri Lanka’s governing body has directed the national team to continue touring Pakistan.

Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has told its players to stay in Pakistan or risk “formal scrutiny” after members of the team announced their intention to leave the country early due to security concerns.
Players expressed concern for their safety after a suicide bombing outside the stadium in Pakistan’s capital Islamabad on Tuesday killed 12 people and injured 27 others.

The SLC issued a statement on Wednesday saying it had directed the team to continue with its planned tour of Pakistan despite an unspecified number of players requesting their return home.
“Should any player, players or support staff return despite instructions from the SLC, we will conduct a formal review… and make appropriate decisions,” the board said.
Replacements will be sent out to ensure the tour continues without interruption, it added.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) confirmed that the second one-day international (ODI) scheduled for Thursday has been postponed by a day, while Saturday’s third match will be played on Sunday. Both will be in Rawalpindi.
“Thanks to the Sri Lankan team for deciding to go ahead with the tour of Pakistan,” PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi said on social media. “Sportsmanship and unity shone through.”
In March 2009, six Sri Lankan players were injured when gunmen opened fire on the team bus heading to the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore for a Test match.
The incident caused international teams to stay away from Pakistan for nearly a decade.
Pakistan beat Sri Lanka by six runs in the first ODI in Rawalpindi on Tuesday, with the match going on despite a suicide attack in neighboring Islamabad.
The PCB said security measures around the visiting team had been tightened since the attack.
Pakistani officials said Naqvi met Sri Lankan players at an Islamabad hotel on Wednesday and assured them of their safety.
Sri Lanka will play a three-match ODI series against Pakistan and then a T20 tri-series against the hosts and Zimbabwe from November 17 to 29.
