The 42-minute video was posted online last week, racked up millions of views and quickly went viral, attracting the attention of President Donald Trump, Vice President J.D. Vance and other administration officials.
“This is devastating news and we don’t know why this was targeted at us somali communitybecause of a video made by a specific individual that made this happen,” Mohammed said.
He claimed the nursery had received “hateful” and “threatening” messages over the past few days.
“It’s scary and exhausting,” he said.
According to the Minnesota Department of Human Services (MDHS) website, the Nokomis day care center is operating well and is licensed to care for up to 71 children, including infants, toddlers and preschoolers.
The center had two violations in October because menus did not meet nutritional requirements set by the U.S. Department of Agriculture and lacked documentation proving teachers were qualified. Both violations have been corrected, MDHS said.
The day care center is not one of the facilities featured in Shirley’s video.
The video comes amid widespread allegations of $1 billion fraud in Minnesota. Federal prosecutors have indicted and charged dozens of people in connection with the alleged fraudulent activity.

Minnesota will receive $185 million in such payments through 2025, HHS said.
