Glasgow’s Nathan McBeth will make his first Guinness Six Nations start with head coach Gregor Townsend making four changes to his kit ahead of Saturday’s Calcutta Cup showdown with England at Murrayfield.
Hooker Ewan Ashman, the listless Pierre Schoeman, second rower Grant Gilchrist and back rower Matt Fagerson were all dropped from the squad that suffered an 18-15 defeat to Italy last weekend.
The experienced quartet were replaced in the XV by George Turner, Mike Bess, Gregor Brown and Jamie Ritchie.
Townsend has kept faith with Roma’s starting backline, meaning there is no place for the high-profile back trio of Blair Kinghorn, Darcy Graham and Duhan van der Merwe at Euro XV.
Winger Graham was on the bench in the 5-3 defeat and the other two were again completely left out of the lineup.
Notably, the absences of Ashman, Schoeman and Gilchrist meant there were no Edinburgh players in the starting fifteen.
