Liverpool head coach Arne Slott says he has tried to impress referees during matches this season but admits his efforts have come to nothing.
Speaking at a news conference on Tuesday, Slott explained his approach to creating a siege mentality at Anfield, hoping that it could motivate officials to favor his team in certain situations.
“Try to impress as much as you can,” Sloat said.
“I’ve made a mistake here twice and in Holland once or twice, sometimes you think creating an environment where the whole world is against you can lead to some positive decisions at the end of the game.
“But here, so far, it’s been the same for the whole 90 minutes in the Chelsea game and the Fulham game.
“It wasn’t that I tried to influence things a bit, the referee suddenly gave us a free kick or two.
“No, he kept the whole game the same. I know it doesn’t work, but sometimes you think: ‘Can I influence him a little?’ But it didn’t help. “

Slott, who replaced Jurgen Klopp as Liverpool manager in the summer, will serve a touchline ban during Liverpool’s Carabao Cup clash against Southampton on Wednesday.
The suspension comes after Slott picked up three yellow cards in his first 17 games in English football.
The Dutchman reflected on his disciplinary record, noting that it was unusual for him, although he admitted that emotions can sometimes get the better of him during matches.
“You always reflect, but I think, in general, I’m calm,” Slott added.
“I don’t know if it’s smart to say this, but even I have a limit – let’s put it that way.
“And then I can get emotional and, unfortunately, that limit can only be reached by referee decisions or decisions made by my players.”
In Slott’s absence, his assistant, Sipke Hulshoff, will face Liverpool with Southampton on the sidelines.
Saints are coming off a 5-0 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday, a defeat that saw them part ways with head coach Russell Martin.
