Sha’Carri Richardson arrested for allegedly driving over 100 mph in Florida

U.S. Olympic sprinter Shakari Richardson was arrested Thursday in Florida on suspicion of speeding in excess of 100 mph.

Authorities said Richardson was seen driving at 104 miles per hour and dangerously passing other motorists on the highway.

It’s the latest controversy in a growing series of issues that have gone off the rails for the U.S. gold medalist.

Surveillance video of the incident shows Richardson approaching her boyfriend, Christian Coleman, from outside the frame and appearing to grab his backpack from behind. Richardson appeared to torture Coleman, pushing him and then pushing him against a wall before pushing him more.

Back in 2021, Richardson was banned from competing in the Tokyo Olympics. Tested positive for THCa chemical found in the drug marijuana. She received a one-month suspension from the United States Anti-Doping Agency and was disqualified from competing in the 100 meters. She also was not selected for the 4x100m relay team.

The sprinter made her Olympic debut in Paris in 2024, winning gold in the women’s 4x100m relay and silver in the 100m.
