Who needs the Super Bowl to start the promo after all? Paramount’s decided to join the ad festivity early with the “big game” spot for Scream 7 this morning, with new footage and a nostalgic poster.
Set years later scream 6, The new film takes us to Pine Grove, Indiana, where Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell) lives a wonderful life with his family. But someone new has taken up the Ghostface mantle and started killing again. Along with Sidney’s family in danger, several of the victims include friends of her daughter Tatum (Isabel May), which requires the Prescotts to seek help from Gale (Courtney Cox) and the Meeks-Martin twins, Mindy (Jasmine Savoy-Brown) and Chad (Mason Gooding).
This new place teases one of the new big murders and a potential killer who has been recovering in Sidney for years and just escaped from a psychiatric hospital. Whoever they are, they’re meant to start at the same age as Tatum and his friends when Sidney and Gale first go through all of this in the original. Yelling. And it’s no coincidence that this and the first trailer ended with someone like Matthew Lillard saying that all of this “could be fun” for them.
Scream 7 hits theaters on February 27, and tickets go on sale next Monday, February 9.
It’s time to face your past, Sidney.
