Santa Claus comes down from Guatemala bridge to deliver toys

A firefighter dressed as Santa Claus rappelled down a bridge in Guatemala City to deliver gifts to children.

Municipal firefighter Hector Chacon put on a red robe and a beard and with the help of his colleagues descended to a height of 70m to greet the dozens of children waiting for him below.

Mr. Chacon, 78, who has been doing this for 27 years, said the stunt was an attempt to spread holiday cheer to children from low-income families.

“I believe all children should have a toy this time of year,” he said.
