Sam Curran prays for more pain for Abhishek Sharma, issues Pat Cummins-esque warning

Sam Curran has given Abhishek Sharma an ultimatum to have a quiet night at the Wankhede Stadium on Thursday. The all-rounder had some special praise for teammate Will Jacks and captain Harry Brooke, while also mentioning the advantages of having already competed in this World Cup on the Mumbai circuit.

The match between India and England will be played at the Wankhede Stadium, which has brought glory to the Indian team many times. India won the last 50-over World Cup at this venue in 2011. However, England appear delighted to have reached the semi-finals at this venue.

England played at the Wankhede Stadium early in this World Cup, although their experience here was not pleasant as they lost to the West Indies and only beat Nepal by four runs in a very close game. India also didn’t have the best matches against the United States and South Africa at the same venue.

However, Sam Curran mentioned in the press conference that it is usually beneficial to have some knowledge of the pitch as early as possible. The Mumbai Stadium is a small venue but has a good sports atmosphere and some good batting wickets.

England will do well if crowds remain silent – Sam Curran’s Pat Cummins-esque warning

England all-rounder Sam Curran has been coming to India to play in the IPL for many years. He has played for Chennai Super Kings and Kings XI Punjab and will be part of the Rajasthan Royals training camp next season.

The all-rounder is well aware of the energy of the Indian fans and the way they cheer their team on the field. He pointed out that ever since he was a child, cricketers have always dreamed of playing a World Cup semi-final against India at home.

When you are a kid, you dream of playing against India in the semi-finals of the World Cup. If the crowd remains silent then England will be fine at this point. Hopefully it’s a nice, quiet stadium but they’re going to be loud when the game starts,” Sam Curran said.

“Hopefully Abhishek plays a quiet game” – Sam Curran

Although Sam Curran reserved some special praise for some of his team-mates, including Will Jacks, the all-rounder relishes his new role in England’s lower leagues and plays spin bowling on occasion. He also backed Harry Brooke to become a real pillar of England’s squad.

Nonetheless, Sam’s fear has been directed at Indian batsman Abhishek Sharma. Although the left-handed batting star is yet to start in this World Cup, England may be frightened by Abhishek’s brutal attack when he last visited India in the 2025 series.

While giving his opinion to Abhishek and laying out their focus on Thursday night, he expressed heartfelt remorse for those trapped in the Middle East, including their own youth teams.

“Our main focus is Thursday night. Hopefully Abhishek can play a quiet game. Sorry for everyone in the Middle East who is affected, but our focus is Thursday night,” Curran concluded.

Sam Curran rules out their tumultuous campaign in T20 World Cup: “It doesn’t matter how we play. It’s all just one day.”

England were not the best team in this World Cup. They are yet to play their best cricket, having had a few close games against Nepal, Scotland and later debutant Italy. However, after a few close games against Pakistan and New Zealand, they entered the semi-finals undefeated in the Super Eights.

Curran admitted that from time to time someone would chime in, although none of them were consistent with their characters. But he expects this to be a good sign that they have all adapted well to subcontinent-like conditions.

Curran has come around to their previous performances and believes that so far, good or bad, it doesn’t matter; all that really matters is how they play on that fateful day.

“It doesn’t matter how we play. It’s all about one day. We all put in the effort at different times. It’s exciting. All the fans are hoping for a perfect game on Thursday,” Sam Curran said.
