U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio arrived in Israel to discuss Israel’s attack on Hamas members in Qatar, a war that was internationally condemned.

Rubio said before his departure, U.S. President Donald Trump was upset about Israel’s strike against key U.S. allies, but stressed that U.S. relations with Israel were “very strong.”

“Obviously, we’re not happy with that, the president is not happy with it. Now we need to move forward and figure out what’s going to happen next,” Rubio said.

His visit forced thousands of people to flee the expected ground offensive to capture the city as Israeli forces continued to destroy residential buildings in Gaza.

Rubio added in his speech at Andrews, United Base, that Trump’s priority remains the return of all hostages and ends the war. Hamas members have been discussing the latest proposal for a ceasefire in Gaza during Israel’s strike.

Asked whether the strike in Doha complicates Qatar’s willingness to cooperate with the United States, Rubio said: “They are good companions in many ways.”

Qatar (Qatar) is a key ally in the region and the location of major U.S. air bases – an emergency Arab-Islamic summit will be held on Monday to discuss what to do next.

Doha condemned Israel’s attacks as “cowardly” and “blatant violation of international law.” Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the move was “fully justified” as it targeted the senior Hamas leader who organized the October 7, 2023 attack.

Hamas has taken about 48 Israeli hostages in Gaza, 20 of which are believed to be alive. Their family said Netanyahu is “a barrier” Prevent them from returning and reaching a peace agreement.

The Hostages and Missing Family Forum wrote on social media that Israel strikes in Qatar last week showed that “every time the deal is close, Netanyahu will destroy it.”

Netanyahu’s plan to occupy Gaza has attracted international criticism, with the United Nations warning in areas where famine declared a “deeper disaster.”

BBC-verified Sunday video showed that the bomb hit Cavat Tower. At least 30 residential buildings were destroyed, local officials told Reuters. Israel said it has completed five waves of attacks on the city over the past week, targeting more than 500 locations, including Hamas reconnaissance and sniper sites, which contain tunnel openings and buildings with arsenal.

Israel asked residents of Gaza to leave the city and head south, and on Saturday, the IDF said an estimated 250,000 Palestinians fled, although hundreds of thousands are believed to remain in the region. Hamas calls on people not to leave.

Some say they can’t afford it, while others say southern Gaza is not safe because Israel also carried out air strikes there.

“The bombing is intensifying everywhere, we have removed the tents, there are more than 20 families, and we don’t know where to go,” Musbah al-Kafarna, displaced in Gaza, told Reuters.

Hamas, Gaza’s Ministry of Operations and Health said the bodies of 68 people killed by the Israeli military arrived at the hospital the day before.

Since the famine was confirmed in Gaza on August 22, the ministry reported that at least 144 people died from hunger and malnutrition throughout the territory. Israel said it is expanding efforts to promote aid and has objected to the Ministry of Health data on malnutrition-related deaths.

The Israeli military launched a campaign in Gaza on October 7 when Israel led by Hamas on the southern Israeli attacks, in which about 1,200 people were killed and another 251 were taken hostage.

According to the Hamas-Ministry of Operations in the region, at least 64,871 people have been killed in Israel’s attacks in Gaza since then.
