Former Indian national cricket team cricketer Robin Uthappa has a suspended arrest warrant for alleged fraud related to Employees Provident Fund (EPF) deposits. The order was issued on Tuesday by a bench of the Karnataka High Court presided over by Justice Suraj Govindaraj.
Uthappa recently found himself embroiled in a big controversy as he was accused of committing fraud in the Employees Provident Fund (EPF) deposits of Indira Nagar-based Centauries Lifestyle Brands Pvt Ltd, of which he was a director.

The arrest warrant was issued by District Provident Fund Commissioner Shadakshara Gopala Reddy
Following the allegations, district provident fund commissioner II Shadakshara Gopala Reddy and KR Puram resuscitation officer issued an arrest warrant against Robin Uthappa. The order stated that the former Indian cricketer was a defaulter and Rs 23,36,602 should be recovered from him.
However, Robin Uthappa has contested the accusations and, apart from the legal formalities, has also given fans an update on the situation. He detailed the entire issue and as a result has now been granted interim protection and a stay of execution against the arrest warrant.

Robin Uthappa He paid his dues by December 27 and disclosed that he had made financial contributions to the company, hence his appointment as company director for 2018-19. However, he currently does not hold this role in the company as he has cricket-related responsibilities and does not have time to be involved in the day-to-day running of the company.
Utapa added that he had resigned from the position several years ago and revealed that the company had failed to repay the funds, forcing him to initiate legal action. He also called on the media not to defame him and only release information after verification.
“Despite this, proceedings are continuing with the Provident Fund authorities and my legal counsel will take necessary steps to resolve the matter in the coming days. I would also like to urge the media to provide the complete facts and verify the authenticity of the information shared,” he said. “

Even after retiring, Robin Uthappa still has a passion for the sport. The former Indian national cricket team player has taken up broadcasting duties.
He played 59 international matches for India and scored 1,183 runs with 7 half-centuries. He also performed well in the IPL, winning the title with KKR and CSK in 2014 and 2021 respectively. He scored 4925 points.
