“No, that’s been misunderstood,” Paul said. “The Internet edited it. What happened is, they asked me questions about those three players. So, I said yes, if I were to make a team, I would pick LeBron as No. 1. I would still pick LeBron as No. 1, and I would pick Jordan for the final shot, but that’s not to say I would pick one over the other.”
“We know who the best player of all time is. His name is LeBron James.”

Ever since LeBron James asked his best friend to represent him as his agent, there has been speculation about Paul’s influence on the teams James plays for. In 2018, James decided to compete in the Western Conference for the first time in his career, shocking the world again.
He joins the Los Angeles Lakers, who have struggled since the departure of Kobe Bryant. James was initially paired with young talent, but over time the Lakers traded away the young core and brought in veteran All-Stars like Anthony Davis and Dwight Howard.
This decision was the right one as it resulted in a 2020 championship. Fans often speculate that Rich Paul has a say in the Lakers’ front office decisions. The Klutch Sports CEO addressed the speculation during Tuesday’s episode of the “Game Over with Max Kellerman and Rich Paul” podcast.
“We’ve never managed a Lakers team,” Paul said. “That was never a thing. … We have had and continue to have a great relationship with the Lakers, but it’s not what you think it is. I don’t want to take on that responsibility, by the way. Now, for someone in my position, I see myself as a partner with all teams.”
Paul clarified that he has working relationships with nearly every team and is not reluctant to express his opinion when asked.
