Project Cyberdeckas it’s called Rabbit, another small, seemingly handheld machine focused on using AI in code. Unlike the R1, which had no keyboard—just a scroll wheel and a few buttons—Project Cyberdeck was envisioned with a keyboard to type on. In Rabbit’s words, the device can be used for things like “command-line workflow” and have “native AI agents” as well as tools like Claude Code, although you can choose which models you run.

Rabbit specifically calls its machine a “cyberdeck,” which is traditionally a custom mini computer built on a Raspberry Pi, but there’s no word on what’s inside the upcoming version of Rabbit. The company DOING say—and I quote—that it comes with a “very large screen” and a 40% hot-swappable keyboardwhich seems cyberdeck-ish, I think. Based on the small image Rabbit shared, it looks like the Project Cyberdeck folds open clamshell-style, but I haven’t seen any sign of a trackpad, so I’m not sure how you’ll interface with it—hopefully not your voice, please Lord.

Details, as you can tell, are thin, but I think that’s what Rabbit wants now. Project Cyberdeck looks like a work in progress, just based on the language Rabbit uses to describe it. In its thread, Rabbit says that they are “designing” Project Cyberdeck, which leads me to believe that it is not yet complete in the physical sense. It also said they were “exploring a portable cyberdeck.” Not the most concrete way to describe a product you plan to sell, but hey, I think it might get some interest.

The interest from whom, though, I have no idea. As some people already pointed out in the Rabbit thread on X, the whole point of “vibe coding,” which is AI-speak for using a chatbot to get some code for you, is that it can be done with a prompt through the cloud. You don’t need a cyberdeck to do that, but someone might want a dedicated device for some reason. Raise your hand if you are.

If Rabbit makes a cyberdeck, I hope it does more than just use AI to code things, because there’s a pretty rad and prolific plant in cyberdecks to exist to do more than just make bad code. Let’s be honest though, Rabbit hasn’t had a stellar track record so far. R1 falls flat both in sales and in the estimation of most people who tried to use one, and while it did not reach Human level of humiliationthe company is clearly not very hot.
