Prince Harry and Meghan Markle criticized Meta for its fact-checking policy


Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have joined the ranks of Meta’s disaffected fact-checking changes and have issued a statement said the changes “directly undermine free speech.”

“Meta’s changes to its ‘Hateful Content Policies’ do not protect free expression but promote an environment where abusive and hateful speech silences and threatens the voices of the entire community that constitutes of a healthy democracy,” they wrote.

They also call Meta plans to abandon DEI commitments.

Meghan returned to Instagram a few weeks ago deleting his social media accounts in 2018. He is supposed to be there used to have “constructive conversations” with Meta execs about online safety after speaking out about the online abuse she’s faced since marrying Harry.

Mastodon CEO Eugen Rochko called changes “deeply troubling” and “concern for anyone with a conscience.” Michael McConnell, co-chair of Meta’s oversight board, too expressed concernand added that the oversight board was not consulted on the changes.
