Gerwyn Price showed his quality to beat Michael van Gerwen and seal his first Premier League night win of the season in Antwerp, while Luke Littler and Luke Humphries both finished outside the top four.

Van Gerwen, who defeated Littler 6-4 in a chaotic semi-final with a total of six throws, reached the weekly final for the second time, averaging 100.7 points and hitting four 180s.

Littler missed the bullseye when trying to reel in “The Big Fish” in the third round, and Van Gerwen then completed a 10-dart break to beat the world number one.

Price eliminated Gian van Veen and Jonny Clayton to reach the final, which Van Gerwen won 6-3 in his first trip to Belgium, handing Van Gerwen his first Premier League defeat.

Littler defeated reigning premiership champion Luke Humphries in a thrilling final game, with the opener featuring 14 top points.

The 19-year-old performed brilliantly, winning five of his last six games and surviving three of them to defeat his archrival in decider drama.

Before the game, Littler revealed he had been suffering from a medical condition.

Van Gerwen continued his career in Newcastle with a comfortable 6-2 win over under-par Josh Locke, with Shanghai’s 120 the highlight of the Dutchman’s victory.

After the game, Lock took to Instagram to apologize to those who came to watch him play and admitted that he didn’t have a tight grip on the dart.

Trailing 2-0 to Price in the final, van Gerwen hit the bullseye with a 167 and leveled the match with a stunning 160.

But Price once again opened up a two-round advantage with a combined score of 82, eventually reaching D10.

The Welshman came within a whisker of victory by locking in D6 after suffering a heavy loss on the Green Machine’s dart.

Despite missing out on the dart throw, Price ultimately came away with the win – converting in the most important moment.

He said: “I played great in Germany (Players Championship) but it’s trying to do it on the main stage. By the end, I did it and I tried to concentrate. It was fantastic. Just to get two points, I’m happy, but five is even better – and it was ten!”

Price: Impossible I can’t choose a major!

“I think I’m playing some of the best stuff I’ve ever played. I just didn’t win the tournament, but that will come,” said Price, who was in hot form at Hildesheim earlier this week before losing to Wessel Niemann in Game 2 of the Players Championship.

“If I keep playing the way I’m playing now, there’s no way I won’t play the majors, the ProTours, the Europeans (European Tour events). I just have to play as many tournaments as I can and stay in good shape.

“How I didn’t win that tournament (The Players Championship 2), I don’t know! Fair play to Wessel Nijman. He was very good at darts and that’s all you have to do. If you are good at darts and win the tournament, then you win the tournament. I’ll get some!”

“Obviously ranking points and ranking championships are the priority, but getting out there in front of the crowd week in and week out, performing hard, winning and getting points is what gives you the confidence going into the Pro Tour and Europe.

“That’s probably my priority, but I just need to win in these races to give me the confidence to go into the ProTour (events). So, yeah, that’s probably the priority right now.”

Clayton fought back from 4-0 down to win six rounds on the spin and beat a desperate Stephen Bunting 6-4 in the quarter-finals, leaving the ‘Bullets tied bottom of the table with zero points two weeks later.

“The Ferret” showed off his excellent shot-making ability, including converting six darts into nine, finishing with an average of 103.17 and a record of 6 for 7 in the doubles.

After fighting back from 3-1 and 4-2 behind, Price set up an all-Welsh semi-final with Clayton, beating last week’s runner-up Van Veen, who missed a match dart in the decider.

The former world champion continued his dominant streak against Creighton – beating his World Cup team-mates to an average of 100.8 in the match to record a 10th win in the decider.

Early concerns about Littler and Humphreys?

“I think it’s a testament to how tough this game is.

“One or two little mistakes, if you don’t feel 100 per cent, anything can happen in these games and then you start to think.

“They (Littler and Humphries) aren’t going to start panicking yet because it’s only week two.

“If this continues into Week 3, Week 4, people are going to start thinking, starting talking and questioning their place in the league.

“I think the next few weeks are going to be very interesting as to how the tables start to look.”

Littler headlines Glasgow next Thursday when he takes on van Gerwen in the 2025 World Championship final, while Welsh pair Clayton and Price square off on Scottish soil.

In the other half of the draw, Bunting took on Van Veen and defending champion Humphries tackled Locke.
