Player ratings as the Toffees battle to a goalless draw

Everton hosted high-flying Chelsea to a 0-0 draw at Goodison Park on Sunday afternoon.

On a day the weather was so bad that even Sean Dyche was wearing a jacket, both sides struggled to find any flow. Fighting against the elements as well as each other, Chelsea Unlock better opportunities in the first 45 minutes of carving.

Nicholas Jackson found himself taking – and missing – two golden openings for the Blues. Usually failed initially by a scattered figure of enthusiastic Jordan PickfordJackson was then reprimanded by the woodwork, heading the corner kick onto the post from point-blank range.

Everton Chelsea were limited to a pair of touches inside the penalty area in the first half, but Jack Harrison found space on the edge of the six-yard box five minutes after the restart. Sánchez, like his opposite number, darted off his line to stifle the advancing Dowling.

Chelsea were strangely inactive after the restart, wandering aimlessly around the blue half of Stanley Park. The goalless stalemate leaves Chelsea a point behind league-leaders Liverpool, who have two games in hand on the Blues. Everton, by comparison, have opened up a four-point cushion above the relegation zone.
