
Crystal Palace suffered a ruthless, if not outright dominant, 5-1 defeat from an Arsenal side on Saturday evening.

Ismaila Sarr struck back for the visitors after just five minutes, finishing off a crisp passing sequence with a stroke into the far corner. In a wild first half that saw a flurry of chances for both sides, Armory Palace lacked a cutting edge.
Jesus scored his second of the evening from a 14th-minute corner after Jean-Philippe Mateta was thwarted by David Raya at the other end. Arsenal’s in-form Brazilian came wide of the post away from his second hat-trick of the week, glancing a header against the woodwork, but Kai Havertz was on hand to boost the rebound.
First half replacement for Leandro Trossard – Wounded Saka – The Palace forward broke the offside trap just after the hour mark. The Belgian squared for Jesus who had his close range effort parried by Henderson. Declan Rice, another substitute, was on hand to funnel the loose ball into Gabriel Martinelli’s stride, extending Arsenal’s lead to 4–1.
Palace were unlucky to be three goals down, but by the time Rice added a fifth for the Gunners in the 85th minute, they had lost all their zip and fizz. That deflected effort sealed the three points that pulled Arsenal back third place. The Gunners trail Chelsea by a point and are three behind Liverpool ahead of both clubs in action on Sunday.
