‘Pay and smile’ – Rome tourists face Trevi Fountain charge

Rome is now charging €2 to enter the viewing area of its iconic Trevi Fountain, which was previously free.

The fee is intended to help manage visitor numbers and raise funds for the maintenance of the monument.

Some visitors welcomed the move, hoping it would reduce crowding and create a better experience. However, one skeptical tourist from Sicily has embraced “paying and smiling” at the Italian landmark.
