Pakistan’s detention of Indian border guards adds tension

The detention of the Indian Border Guard of Pakistani forces inserted another element of tension into the already unstable conflict between the two countries after last week’s deadly terrorist attack in Kashmir.

The family of the Indian Border Guard, Purnam Kumar Shaw, who is part of the paramilitary forces of the security forces, expressed concern about her destiny.

He followed farmers who took care of their crops along the border in the Indian state of Punjab when he strayed across the line that he demolished Indian and Pakistani territory and was detained, according to the Indian newspaper.

Was detained on Wednesday, the day after terrorist attack In the Indian part of Kashmir, who killed 26 civilians and pushed the nuclear armed neighbors to the edge of military conflict.

India accused Pakistan of having a hand in the attack and indicated that she was preparing a military strike, with other criminal measures he had already exhibited. Pakistan denied the charges and returned his own retaliation.

Mr. Shaw’s custody could provide the Pakistani government to a negotiating chip and affect India’s capabilities to hit Pakistan.

Indian security officers remained firmly implanted in the case. A senior Pakistani military official confirmed that Pakistan Rangers, paramilitary forces, detained the Indian Guard. The Indian official said that the Government was seeking the return of Mr. Shaw according to the established protocols.

“We are worried about his safety,” said Rahul Shaw, his nephew. “BSF told us he would surely bring him back,” he added, referring to the border forces of security.

The guard has a 8-year-old son, and his wife is pregnant with their other child, his nephew said.

Kalyan Banerjee, a member of the Indian Parliament for Western Bengal, said that high Indian safety officers assured him that Mr. Shaw was of good health and that the Government was making “all possible efforts” to bring him back to India.

Exact details about how Mr. Shaw, a guard with almost two decades of service, ended up with custody.

Security arrangements along some parts of the border can be agreed. The farms on the Indian side are often located in the middle between the Indian and Pakistani territories known as zero.

In many villages, the Indian Border Power of Security Supports access to the locals with their farms, issuing them identification cards and paying close attention to their activities, including when they have their field during certain hours. Occasionally, random border crossings take place.

Mr. Shaw’s detention is somehow reminiscent of the last big face between India and Pakistan over Kashmir, which followed in 2019 after a deadly terrorist attack on Indian security forces.

After India spent air attacks, Pakistani side knocked down an Indian aircraft and arrested his pilot. His fate became part of the process that led to a deescation between two opponents.

KJ Singh, a retired Indian general who led the Western Command of the Earth, said the fact that border soldiers often accidentally stray through the demarcation line, makes it a less equivalent detention of pilots.

Mr Singh said he hoped that negotiating over the border guard could increase a little more than the usual levels in such cases.
