The Pakistan Super League (PSL) is scheduled to start on March 26, 2026, and the final will be held on May 3. This year will enter its 11th edition. Pakistan’s top flight has added two new teams for the upcoming season: Sialkot Stallionz and Kingsmen Hyderabad. They also introduced a new rule into the game, which was missing in 10th edition, of signing a player directly before the game starts.
The player auction will be held on February 11. Prior to this, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) had decided not to broadcast its league matches in India. They decided not to sell the PSL media rights in India; in the previous edition, Sony Sports bought the rights to broadcast the matches. The decision comes in the wake of a dispute between India and Pakistan.
The Pakistan Cricket Board is yet to find its own broadcast channel to broadcast the league. After the initial bid was completed, it failed to meet its reserve price in January. According to Pakistani media reports, as the tournament expands from six to eight teams for the first time, the board of directors anticipates strong interest from media channels and therefore decided to bid at a high price.

They are yet to hold a second bidding process to acquire media services after an initial failure. However, officials are yet to confirm a start date for the second round of the bidding process. Pakistan cricket is going through a tough time.
PCB and ICC still fighting
After months of being in limbo to qualify for the upcoming T20 World Cup, the Pakistan government took to social media on Sunday to announce that their team will travel to Sri Lanka in the group stage but will not face India. Media rights have not yet been sold due to a political dispute between the two countries.
The Pakistan Cricket Board is yet to comment on the matter and is expected to support the national government’s decision. They have not even given any official notification to the International Cricket Council regarding their “optional playing” in the T20 World Cup. Their stance comes after Bangladesh were dropped from the tournament citing security reasons for refusing to travel to India. Pakistan is the only member to support them.
Will Pakistan Cricket League be suspended?
If the Pakistan Cricket Board does not change its stance and get sanctioned by the ICC, this could become a huge loss for its cricketing side. As foreign players participating in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) are likely to be sanctioned. This could be a huge loss for the PCB as as things stand, the board will not grant NOCs to England red-ball players in the upcoming PSL season.
In short, the Pakistan Cricket Board is already in shallow waters and may even face a ban from cricket matches and their earnings may be suspended considering their participation in the series against India.
